Coffee Meetings – Venue Changed for Wednesday Mornings

This is a very important message. It will be changed on the website asap. It has been decided that the venue for the Grapevine meeting will now be changed. We will no longer meet at Pati Verd, Hotel Carlymany. The meeting will be from approximately 11am – 1.30 at the Restaurant/Cafe, LA FARINERA. This is because there are many more English speakers who work in this area (El Punt/Escolar Official/Catalonia Today) and they want to come to the meetings but the Carlymany is too far to go. I think the Carlymany was originally chosen because it was non-smoking but now everywhere is. Also, it’s nearer to the bus/train station. They also do very reasonable, good menus and have a very pretty outdoor terrace so we could combine the two sometimes when we do lunches. It would also help me and Peter as it’s nearer to our home and make life a little easier, ensure we can be there more often. So, if you have any thoughts on this, please let me know. The numbers are down that attend the coffee mornings so in this way we could boost the attendance, which is very important. You can look up the location on Google. It’s behind the wonderful architecture of the original flower market. Many of us know this place very well and the staff and lovely, efficient and friendly. FYI, we still have our lunch & guest speaker planned at Cafe Migdia on 23 March but if you want to come for coffee earlier then please come to La Farinera and we can walk to Migdia together. If you know members that do not have email or monitor them very often, please kindly pass this news on. This way you can meet more people and be generally assured of a welcome! Anyone who is there will look out for people who come into the restaurant but we try to make ourselves as obvious as possible! So, don’t go to the Carlymany, come to La Farinera. We look forward to seeing you!

Situation and address:
Passatge Farinera Teixidor no. 4
Thanks! Helge for putting the address. You know the area well. Some people have asked about parking. I know there is parking in C/Eugenia and in Placa Betrana very near the cafe. This venue is nearer for most of us, I think and makes life a little easier. Look forward to seeing you! Debra

About GG in Brief
Hello there! We are a group of English speakers (of many different nationalities ) who like to get together from time to time for a chat, to make friends, exchange information and sometimes organise social events.
If you are in Girona on a Wednesday, you could pop into La Farinera café ( Sta Eugènia 42) between roughly 11.00 am—1pm and say hello. There may be a lot of people, but sometimes nobody can make it, although this is generally only the case during holiday times when people are busy with visitors or travelling. We don’t meet in the summer (July and August).
Although we welcome everyone, we have to warn people that we are not a conversation exchange for English learners. Conversation is fast and colloquial and very difficult to follow unless you are a fluent speaker.
